Sunset at Obsidian Butte*
Friday (A) • 3:30-6:30 p.m.
Sunset from these rocky shores with thousands of birds settling in for the evening is truly spectacular. Watch the sun slip behind the Laguna Mountains beyond ten miles of open Salton Sea as we stand on the rocky shores of Obsidian Butte. Enjoy Pelicans and cormorants skimming the water above the reflected sky.

Fig Lagoon Tour*
Friday (B), 3:45-6:30 p.m.
Fig Lagoon was created in 1976 when tropical storm Kathleen damaged an agricultural runoff drain to the New River. Enhanced by the Imperial Irrigation District (IID) as an experimental evaporation pond, the 80-acre lagoon has become so popular that it is now included as part of the National Watchable Wildlife Program.

Egrets, herons, ibis, terns, pelicans and other water birds are abundant and easily seen. Hundreds of these birds fly in each evening to claim a roosting spot. Join us for a walking tour of the lagoon and as we watch these flocks fly in during the brilliance of an Imperial Valley sunset.

Sunset With Sandhill Cranes*
Friday (C), 4:00-6:30 p.m.
With nearly 400 Sandhill Cranes coming to roost in Imperial Valley’s Agricultural heartland and thousands of White-faced Ibis, egrets and seemingly endless streams of Ring-Billed Gulls passing over, this sunset will exercise your neck!
